Making Shrimp Toast (Whole Shrimp)

(Lam Banh Mi Tom Tep)

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp
  • Flours (wheat flour, rice flour, potato starch) – around 1: ½: ½ ratio
  • Breads
  • Cooking oil
  • Egg
  • Salt (optional)
  • Black pepper (optional)

Directions:

Preparations:

  • Shrimp – remove shell, devein…
  • Mixture – mix all flours with egg in the water… not too thick, not too thin. Set aside to let it rest.
  • Bread – use ready slice bread.  If not, slice a loaf of bread into slices to the side you want.

Cooking:

  1. Bring cooking oil to 300*F to 350*F
  2. Dip one side of bread to the mixture, add shrimps, spread some mixtures on the top, add to hot cooking oil. 
  3. Fry it until it turns golden.
  4. Remove it from the cooking oil.

Suggestions:

Serve it by dipping in sweet and sour sauce or whatever sauce you want.  You may roll them in salads with any fresh vegetables or herbs and dip with a mixture of fish sauce.
